Nursery Opening Times: 7.30am – 6pm

A former private school in the heart of Whitchurch, this Victorian house lends itself perfectly to nursery life.

The double fronted bay windows allow plenty of light into the playrooms which are home to a variety of activities such as musical instruments, puzzles, sensory equipment and not forgetting the always popular role play and book corners.

Dressing up is always a favourite pastime and very often you will enter a room full of tiny Paramedics, Doctors, Nurses and the like!   The nursery is very much at the heart of the community, the children enjoy lots of visits from Firefighters, Police Officers, Dentists and visits to the local Old Peoples Home for singing sessions are always eagerly anticipated by the residents.

Babies and toddlers enjoy activities such as sand and water play, jelly play, gloop, painting and other creative skills designed to stimulate tiny minds and our specialist bikes, trikes and scooters ensure that even the most active boys and girls can use up all their excess energy!

What The Parents Say

"My son has settled amazingly well at Acorns Whitchurch thanks to the positive and loving environment that the staff have created. He enjoys a variety of themed activities and learns through play on a daily basis. The Home-Link scheme allows us as parents to be part of his daily life. I would highly recommend Acorns to other parents looking for a safe and fun place for their children."
"This nursery is extremely welcoming. Since our first visit the staff have been superb. Whenever we drop off our son all the staff welcome him, know his name and make a fuss of him. We were nervous before he began, but are now extremely happy that he loves it. It makes us feel much better knowing he is safe, looked after and having a great time. 5 star!".
"Acorns provides a fantastic environment for our twins. Ever since we started sending them we have been really impressed with the friendliness and care shown by the team, always a smile and a story of the days events. The facility is first class, lots of activity - indoor and out. Forest School is a great plus. Definitely recommended to friends."
"A superb nursery. Calm, well-managed and spotless. The staff always have a smile and we are always greeted by name by anyone who answers the door to us on a morning. The atmosphere is happy, fun and relaxed and amazingly organised and quiet, given the number of busy small people they are minding. The facilities are lovely, especially the outdoor space. Boris the tortoise is a great addition to the team. My children love it there, my toddler is always brimming with excited chatter about her day when I collect her and refers to Acorns as 'friends' not nursery."

Food

At Acorns we know the importance of healthy minds and healthy bodies and how vital it is for children to eat the right foods for growth and development.   We also know that if children eat well in their early years they go on to make healthy choices throughout their lives.

We believe  in providing home cooked, delicious meals every day and encourage the children to take a healthy interest in food.  Each nursery has a vegetable planter where the children sow seeds for peppers, courgettes, beans, potatoes, strawberries and more, these are then harvested and used by our Cooks in nursery meals.

Our Autumn/Winter and Spring/Summer menus and are always packed with new ideas and seasonal fruit and vegetables.  The children enjoy breakfast, a 2 course lunch, high tea and a 5 o’clock snack.  All of our nurseries hold Gold Healthy Eating Snack Awards.   For babies and little ones we provide a puree and mash menu to ensure your child is enjoying foods for the correct stage of their development, older children are encouraged to self serve at the table to allow independence.

Our Nursery Nurses sit with the children at each meal to encourage and assist them at mealtimes, this promotes good table manners and social skills.

Cooking activities are a popular part of nursery life, and the children love to take part in food tasting sessions.    We celebrate different cultures and festival at Acorns and enjoy learning about and discovering foods from all over the world.
