Children with Additional Needs

Children with additional needs are very welcome within our nurseries, and we employ a part-time Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO), who has extensive knowledge of the Code of Practice and is involved in planning and supporting staff, parents and your child.

We would point out however that the following criteria should be considered:
Whether the geographical nature of the building is suitable for the disability.

If the needs of your child can be met within the general day to day routine, assessing the need for additional staff to maintain correct ratios.

Continuing support and commitment from the parents and caring agencies is paramount.

Additionally, Acorns should have:
Detailed information about the child.

Information from agencies or individuals involved with the interests of the child.

Parents’ commitment to work in partnership with the nursery staff.

The Nursery Manager, Directors and Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator are available at any time to discuss any concerns regarding the well-being of your child.
