Tucked away between the villages of Lisvane and Llanishen with easy access to Newport and the M4, Acorns Llanishen is an Edwardian red brick building bursting with character and fantastic gardens.

With plenty of rooms for the children to enjoy, Nursery Manager Zoe and her team ensure that every day is busy, exciting and fun.  Easy access to the local train station ensures the older children enjoy trips and visits to nearby places of interest, whilst the beautiful greenery of local parks and walks are perfect for babies and younger children.

Every day is an adventure at Acorns Llanishen, from cooking with our Nursery Cook Jordan to Forest School with Acorns Forest School Leaders, no two days are every the same!

Makaton sign language is encouraged throughout all our nurseries and babies and toddlers in particular benefit from this aid to early speech.  Our Makaton assistant Mrs Murphy visits the nurseries regularly to sing and sign with the children.

What The Parents Say

We looked at various nurseries and there is no doubt that Acorns stood out as the best by far. The staff are fantastic and everyday Osian learns something new. I cannot recommend 'Acorns' highly enough.
Excellent nursery, staff are always friendly and will always advise you of how your little one has been, Each evening my boy will come home with either a painting or food created or made that day. 10/10.
We have been consistently impressed by the professionalism of the staff and the range of wonderful activities she takes part in. We have a huge collection of paintings and photos of activities she has done and has developed her social skills and her speech wonderfully. We could not be more impressed by the facilities and the friendly staff that have made her time in nursery not just a necessity due to me returning to work but a complete benefit to her development.

Food

At Acorns we know the importance of healthy minds and healthy bodies and how vital it is for children to eat the right foods for growth and development.   We also know that if children eat well in their early years they go on to make healthy choices throughout their lives.

We believe  in providing home cooked, delicious meals every day and encourage the children to take a healthy interest in food.  Each nursery has a vegetable planter where the children sow seeds for peppers, courgettes, beans, potatoes, strawberries and more, these are then harvested and used by our Cooks in nursery meals.

Our Autumn/Winter and Spring/Summer menus and are always packed with new ideas and seasonal fruit and vegetables.  The children enjoy breakfast, a 2 course lunch, high tea and a 5 o’clock snack.  All of our nurseries hold Gold Healthy Eating Snack Awards.   For babies and little ones we provide a puree and mash menu to ensure your child is enjoying foods for the correct stage of their development, older children are encouraged to self serve at the table to allow independence.

Our Nursery Nurses sit with the children at each meal to encourage and assist them at mealtimes, this promotes good table manners and social skills.

Cooking activities are a popular part of nursery life, and the children love to take part in food tasting sessions.    We celebrate different cultures and festival at Acorns and enjoy learning about and discovering foods from all over the world.

Acorns Nurseries are now providers of the Childcare Offer in Wales for eligible working parents of 3-4 year olds. Parents can apply by contacting the local Family Information Service.
