BBC Wales Acorns can be found between the bustling villages of Llandaff and Whitchurch,  overlooking Llantrisant Road, the gateway to the city from Llantrisant and Radyr and minutes from the City Centre.

Originally designed as a workplace nursery for BBC employees, we are pleased to now accommodate both employees and private parents.

Babies are cared for on their own floor by a team of highly trained Nursery Nurses, whilst the older children enjoy our cosy playrooms and fun outdoor areas, including our fantastic Forest School Area.

Welsh is spoken freely throughout the nursery and children are encouraged to count, sing and learn in both the Welsh and English language.

The Pre-school Group follow the Foundation Phase curriculum which links to the National Curriculum and explores the seven areas of learning.  Attribute Sports Development teach music and movement on a regular basis for healthy bodies and minds!

Rachel manages the Nursery with the help of Kath her Assistant and a team of Nursery Nurses, Housekeepers and Cooks who ensure the smooth day to day running of the nursery.

What The Parents Say

"I would recommend Acorns as it is run very professionally, whilst providing a homely loving and happy environment where our daughter can be herself. Everyday she has so much fun and is offered a wide range of inspiring activities by an amazing, dedicated team".
"We chose Acorns based on their reputation and after speaking to other parents and themselves. They promised a great service and a variety of 'extras' that really appealed to us and they have since delivered above and beyond our expectations. A great service, friendly professional staff and a very happy child. Would recommend to anybody."
"Our minds are put at ease when dropping our child off in the morning by the warmth and friendliness of the staff. Great care is taken to meet and exceed the specific needs of our child and the daily report cards are a great way of letting us know how they have got on during the day."

Food

At Acorns we know the importance of healthy minds and healthy bodies and how vital it is for children to eat the right foods for growth and development.   We also know that if children eat well in their early years they go on to make healthy choices throughout their lives.

We believe  in providing home cooked, delicious meals every day and encourage the children to take a healthy interest in food.  Each nursery has a vegetable planter where the children sow seeds for peppers, courgettes, beans, potatoes, strawberries and more, these are then harvested and used by our Cooks in nursery meals.

Our Autumn/Winter and Spring/Summer menus and are always packed with new ideas and seasonal fruit and vegetables.  The children enjoy breakfast, a 2 course lunch, high tea and a 5 o’clock snack.  All of our nurseries hold Gold Healthy Eating Snack Awards.   For babies and little ones we provide a puree and mash menu to ensure your child is enjoying foods for the correct stage of their development, older children are encouraged to self serve at the table to allow independence.

Our Nursery Nurses sit with the children at each meal to encourage and assist them at mealtimes, this promotes good table manners and social skills.

Cooking activities are a popular part of nursery life, and the children love to take part in food tasting sessions.    We celebrate different cultures and festival at Acorns and enjoy learning about and discovering foods from all over the world.
