Nursery Opening Times: 7.30am – 6pm

Sitting proudly on the top of Henbury Hill this majestic listed building and gardens has views that stretch for miles across the Bristol Channel.  With plenty of open space, our Forest School site is exceptional and the gardens are safe and secure.  William our Gardener spends lots of time teaching the children to sow seeds, grow vegetables and discover all about nature.  His mini beast mansions provide 5 star accommodation for the insects and the children love to learn about our natural habitat with William come rain or shine!

Indoors, high ceilings and large rooms ensure our play lofts are easily accessible for climbing and imaginary play. The home corner, role play areas, endless puzzles, games, creative and messy activities ensure that every child has a wealth of opportunities to discover and explore, whilst our caring Nursery Nurses are always nearby and ready to provide a cuddle or reassurance at any time.

Our Early Years Teacher follows the Foundation Phase which links with the National Curriculum to ensure your little one finds the transition from nursery to school as easy as possible and home links and school links with local primary schools are encouraged.

Toddlers love to make music with our musical instruments from all over the world, whilst babies enjoy painting, treasure baskets and sensory play amongst other things.

We celebrate many traditions, festivals and cultures at Acorns and  learn about celebrations such as Holi, Hanukah, Chinese New Year and many more –  there is nothing nicer than seeing a child greet their parents proudly with a home made greeting card, cake or biscuit that they have made that day.

Amanda the Nursery Manager assisted by Kayleigh and Kath, ensure that every day at Acorns Henbury Hill House is a fun and happy experience for both children and staff.

Food

At Acorns we know the importance of healthy minds and healthy bodies and how vital it is for children to eat the right foods for growth and development.   We also know that if children eat well in their early years they go on to make healthy choices throughout their lives.

We believe  in providing home cooked, delicious meals every day and encourage the children to take a healthy interest in food.  Each nursery has a vegetable planter where the children sow seeds for peppers, courgettes, beans, potatoes, strawberries and more, these are then harvested and used by our Cooks in nursery meals.

Our Autumn/Winter and Spring/Summer menus and are always packed with new ideas and seasonal fruit and vegetables.  The children enjoy breakfast, a 2 course lunch, high tea and a 5 o’clock snack.  All of our nurseries hold Gold Healthy Eating Snack Awards.   For babies and little ones we provide a puree and mash menu to ensure your child is enjoying foods for the correct stage of their development, older children are encouraged to self serve at the table to allow independence.

Our Nursery Nurses sit with the children at each meal to encourage and assist them at mealtimes, this promotes good table manners and social skills.

Cooking activities are a popular part of nursery life, and the children love to take part in food tasting sessions.    We celebrate different cultures and festival at Acorns and enjoy learning about and discovering foods from all over the world.

Acorns Nurseries are now providers of the Childcare Offer in Wales for eligible working parents of 3-4 year olds. Parents can apply by contacting the local Family Information Service.
